Tonto Basin Elementary School
Home of the WRANGLERS
Welcome to Tonto Basin Elementary School District, located near Roosevelt Lake. This is a school rich in history and tradition, from its start as a one-room schoolhouse to the annual Halloween Carnival and Christmas Program. Our eighth grade students are still provided with a solemn ceremony acknowledging their rite of passage from elementary school into high school.
We are a small, rural school, but one with a large capacity for providing our students with opportunities to grow and learn. We believe in creating an environment of positive support for our students, as well as promoting a positive home, school, and community relationship. The school, as well as the “Little Red Schoolhouse,” were built by volunteers, evidence that our community cares deeply about the students of Tonto Basin.
With the changes in education today, our staff remains committed to providing our students with the academic tools needed to be successful. Instructional delivery is focused on Arizona’s College and Career Readiness Standards. We are working diligently to ready our students for the high-stakes assessments they will encounter throughout their education, as well as provide them with the skills they will need as they enter high school, college, and the job force.
Not only do we care about our students’ education, but we are also dedicated to ensuring their safety. We are working closely with local law enforcement and fire in order to maintain and update our Emergency Operations Plan in an effort to provide a comprehensive, rapid, and efficient response to any foreseeable emergency situation.
Tonto Basin Elementary School is steadfast in our efforts to rise to the challenges of today, to do whatever it takes to prepare our students for the future, and we are devoted to keeping our longstanding traditions and values alive.
